Biochar Demos in Manhattan, KS

How to Make & Use Biochar Wksp/Demo Thur, 4/19 with David Yarrow at KSU Student Farm.  Meet at Throckmorton Hall at 5:20 and caravan at 5:30 to farm.  Also a community biochar burn on Sunday, 4/22, Earth Day.  Meet at UFM House, 2nd floor, 4:00 for video on biochar process.  Caravan at 5:00 to Community Garden at 5:00 for burn.  Hope you can come to one demo.  See flyer below:

Sun, April 22nd, Earth Day!  Meet at 4:00, UFM 2nd floor conference room, 1221 Thurston, for biochar video.                               Caravan at 5:00 to Manhattan Community Garden on Collins Lane, Hunter's Island, for biochar burn

You will learn:
to fabricate, assemble, load, and fire a 55-gallon TLUD
procedures & equipment to safely operate a TLUD
to prepare biochar for use in soil
learn uses of biochar for soil improvement, cooking, heating and alternative energy use
